Founded in 1855, the YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South is a nonprofit organization that serves children, youths and adults. The organization offers head start activities for the cognitive, social and physical development of infants and toddlers. It organizes day camps that include adventurous activities, historic travel, horseback riding and mental enrichment instruction. The YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South additionally hosts specialty classes and information fairs for senior citizens. The organization conducts sessions on character development and conflict resolution skills for school-age children. It features after-school programs that include storytelling, acting, music and dance.
