Quick history lesson... Years ago my grandfather owned it and when he bought it the wife of the previous owner,"Charlie" asked my grandfather if he would keep the name. Although he had every right to change the name he honored her request, and it remained and still is Charlie's.There is a TRUE old school feel in there. My "poppy" has long time passed but the shop is exactly the same. Start a tradition on Saturday mornings with your kids. They give lollipops, although when I was a kid, I always wanted the gum my poppy had behind his chair... ha.Before the sign that is currently out front, the letters had to be painted by hand. As I was learning the alphabet if I got the letter correct my poppy let me paint it. Great atmosphere. You will get more than a haircut, it will become part of your routine. Family feel that any other business in old town Mechanicsville will not duplicate.

This is a great barber shop. These boys are real barbers they cut hair and talk sports and politics with you. Quit going to that unisex salon and get over to a proper barber shop!
