The Mebane Police Department is a law enforcement agency that promotes public safety and solves criminal cases. The department maintains a staff of more than 15 sworn officers. It supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior. The department operates a communication center that maintains a multichannel police system and provides communication services for police, fire and emergency medical assistance. In addition, it has a patrol division that provides uniformed patrol, crime prevention, emergency incident response, accident investigation and traffic law enforcement services.
