A few months ago I brought my car in to Lakemoor Transmissions thinking it had a transmission problem.
Previously I had it repaired twice at one shop, but the same problem kept re-occuring within a week or so. I got two other opinions from two more shops (one of which told me it was indeed the transmission and would not be worth repairing...).
Finally, a friend referred me to Lakemoor Trans. so I brought it in. They called me back the same day after looking at the car and told me the problem was NOT the transmission at all. Long story short, he gave me a VERY reasonable quote so I told Chris (the owner) to go ahead and do the repairs. Before i knew it, he called back telling me the car was ready. I picked it up, drove home, and it's been a smooth ride ever since - i've had 0 problems with the work done whatsoever, which is such a relief after having it "repaired" twice before elsewhere.
I really appreciated his honesty (which can be hard to find in a good mechanic). You really can't beat Lakemoor Transmissions' pricing and quality of service.
Needless to say, i'm bringing all my family's cars to Lakemoor Transmissions for EVERYTHING from maintenance to repairs from now on.
I was referred to Chris through a mutual friend. Chris was very honest, helpful, and got the required work completed in a very short amount of time.
Chris' shop is well maintained and extremely convenient to our home.
After the job was completed, Chris even offered to come pick me up so I didn't need to walk in the 90 degree heat. It's small, courteous things like this that mean the most.
Overall, on a scale of one to ten, I give Chris and Lakemoor Trans an 11!! Great service, honesty, and family owned. Going to use their services for my vehicle from now on! :)

Fast turnaround, quality repairs at a fair price. Where else can you get such amazing service with a smile!!!
Everything has gone wrong with my P T Cruiser except the transmission. I am so glad that Chris fixes everything!!
I won't go anywhere else after meeting Chris and seeing his shop and the excellent quality of his work. Clearly the unahppy customer who gave Lakemoor Transmissions a bad rating is someone who is a competitor (you can tell from all the technical jargon that us 'normal' people don't know). I have had my car in for brakes, oil changes and will continue to use Chris as my mechanic!!!
I had my 2002 ford truck looked at by 3 shops but nobody could tell me what was wrong, everyone was trying to sell me a transmission for 1500.00- 2500.00 I had Lakemoore look at it and all it needed was a solenoid pack, fixxed for 450.00
this guy doesnt even know how to build transmissions he pulled mine out sent it to another shop paid them to fix it marked price up then installed it back in my car and now tells me my car has another problem that it didnt have when it got there !took my car to another shop was fixed in 2 days for $75.00 now runs fine. they said trans looked used and was leaking -- trust me i will never go back to this place !
Shop was clean and well organised. The owner is a great guy and they even had a fast turn around-Excellent
Best Trans I've ever had and I've had plenty. Reasonable turn around and the job was done right the first time. I hav a vintage Skylark and it doesn't get worked on by just anyone
I love my Tahoe again! Chris did an amazing job, no need for a new vehicle. His garage is so clean! and talk about knowing his stuff, I am recommending him to everyone I know!
