Oklahoma Department of Corrections has been incarcerating inmates and supervising offenders prior to statehood. Based in Mcalester, Okla., the department offers an array of services, such as general counseling, community corrections, internal affairs, treatment, rehabilitative services, community sentencing and offender information services, to name a few. The organization is accredited through many divisions of institutions, including Joseph Harp Correctional Center, Jim E. Hamilton Correctional Center, R. B. Dick Conner Correctional Center, Northeast Oklahoma Correctional Center, among others.
