I am the mother of a only child who served in the Marine Core for 8 years. My son went to Iraq and has never been the same upon returning. I got a desperate phone call from him yesterday saying he needed help on getting to the VA mental department. I live in Grass Valley one and a half hours away. Apparently the sheriffs found my son walking aimlessly on the streets and said they dropped him off at the VA at midnight. I have called several times just to try and find out if he is actually there. Not one person could tell me if he was admitted or not? I am so upset, I don't know if I should keep looking for him on the streets or if he is at the VA?? I asked for the supervisor his name is ADAM BOROWITZ. MR. BOROWITZ would not even tell me if my son had been admitted. I am his mother and the only parent alive and just want to know if my son is there and ok. I am so disappointed in this facility. This would not be the first time my son has been admitted to this hospital. The nurse usually calls me to update me on my sons condition. What is so different this time. Mr. Borowitz has no compassion for the families of our Vets seeking help from serving our country. If my son knew that they were not telling me if he is there or not would make him very upset. So I guess I will get in my car and drive around looking for him. This is terrible to not know if your son who is struggling everyday is ok. This issue really needs to be addressed. If anyone else is dealing with the same situation, we need to rally together to change this. Do they really think that they are helping our Vets by withholding such information to a parent trying to find out if their child is safe or not.
