Unscrupulous, Dishonest Owner Who Keeps You Waiting.
I purchased a used electric vehicle from Ed's Transmission. Though the owner Ray didn't disclose this (he said it was the car his manager used to get to and from work), I heard from an employee that it had been used as their loaner vehicle to customers. This owner, Ray, assured me that I did not need to have the car checked by a mechanic--they had checked the vehicle carefully using their expertise, and were confident it was in excellent mechanical condition--no mention of any issues. He stated that I would be eligible for a free new battery from the dealer shortly (via the battery depletion warranty), which would double its driveable life.

The day I picked up the car, I dropped by my local Nissan dealer and heard, among a few lesser mechanical matters, that there were major problems with the vehicle caused by rodent damage that made it unsafe to drive. Furthermore, these issues had been previously disclosed to Ed's Transmissions by their local Nissan dealer (Karmart) in November 2017, and Ed's Transmissions had declined to have the dealer repair them. The critical repair estimate to make the vehicle
safe to drive was $3,963.20. The other repairs recommended were another $1,363.10. Together, these, in effect, would almost double the vehicle purchase price.

Furthermore, I discovered that Ed's Transmission had misled me about the battery depletion replacement warranty. This warranty had expired in 2016, and I am not to be eligible for a free replacement. Purchasing a new battery, which I will need to do in about the next 25,000 miles or
so in order to be able to continue driving the vehicle just the 15 miles to town and back will cost $8,150 at current Nissan prices.

I contacted Ed's & sent the estimate and relayed the battery issue. The owner, Ray, insisted that the dealer was making up the problems--that Ed's had repaired them. I offered to take the vehicle to another mechanic for a double check (so I paid again for an estimate). Unsafe to drive condition was confirmed, yet Ed's refused to either help with the repairs or accept return of the vehicle.

He kept me waiting. He said he would deliver the car once my check cleared the bank. I called him after the check cleared (a Thursday morning) and did not hear back from him for four days. At that point, he was no longer willing to deliver the vehicle to my home--rather I had to meet him 12 miles away to pick it up--but not for another four days. Waiting again.

He further tried to say that I had not bought the vehicle from Ed's, as he had communicated all along, rather from him individually--even though the Craig's List ad, the e-mail we used to correspond, the title, the purchase receipt, and his signature on both were all in the name of the business.
