Homeward Bound Customs and Repair is an auto shop in Marion Iowa, serving Marion, Cedar Rapids, Hiawatha and anyone else willing to drive. John is an engineer with 20 years experience working everything from automotive to agriculture, from the very front end of R&D to very back end of test and qualification. Problem solving is in his blood. He has a profound understanding of all things mechanical and electrical. Jyl is a classically trained jazz vocalist who realized very early she could do just about anything she set her mind to. Recently she enrolled in the Automotive Collision and Restoration program at Kirkwood Community College, where she found that she has a profound talent for moving, shaping and coating metal. After 14 years of marriage, John and Jyl decided they wanted to strengthen their marriage by starting a business together. They decided to pool their eclectic skills, talents and interest to create Homeward Bound Customs and Repairs. HBCaR is an automotive repair facility located in south east Marion, catering to anyone looking for an honest mechanic. John and Jyl will take the time to evaluate your vehicle, assess what needs to be done (and what doesnt need to be done), and give you a proper run down of what they find. You will be told whats been found, what it is, why it is and what will happen if it is or isnt fixed. John and Jyl will make sure you understand so that you are empowered to make an informed decision about the repairs you want to make to your vehicle. Lets face it, nobody wants to pay for vehicle repairs. Most vehicle repairs are unplanned. John and Jyl get that. They see you as a human being trying to support yourself and your family. You get the full manufacturer’s warranty.We strive to provide an honestly priced package that will get you on the road quickly and reliably.But in those rare cases when we can’t diagnostics time is charged at our normal shop rate.Most jobs can be diagnosed easily in that time.We stand behind our high quality work with one of the best labor rates in the area!We can work on foreign and domestic, new, old or vintage.We cannot honor the manufacturer’s warranty on parts you supply.Our markup is low enough that we’re usually competitive with most over the counter pricesOur basic shop rate is $85 per hour.It’s really in your best interest to buy your parts through us.Your first 30 minutes of diagnostic time is free, even if we need to scan your computer.Please ask for a copy to the manufacturer’s warranty if you desire the particulars.We can diagnose and repair all makes and models.We will install parts you bring in.It doesn’t matter if it’s fuel injected or carbureted, we can handle it.We honor manufacturer’s warranties on parts we purchase. This includes labor.We stand behind our work. If we make a mistake, we will correct it.But there will be a small surcharge depending on the parts to be installed.
