Marietta City Council is headed by the mayor. The council operates the office of the city clerk that serves as the custodian of the city seal, and affixes its impression on documents whenever required. The office also preserves all codes, records and documents belonging to the city that are not assigned to the custody of some other office, and maintains an index of all records and documents. The city clerk attests to the mayor's or city manager s signature on all contracts, and serves as the election superintendent. The city manager's office provides administrative services to the citizens of Marietta, Ga., the mayor and council members, members of the press, and employees.
