As with the previous reviewer, we were treated like criminals and it is not a race thing either.



I've been in this store many times and have always felt an unfriendly atmosphere but last Saturday I was made to feel like a thief.



My daughter and I were purchasing a newer item and the dealer had these items displayed with ribbons -- all except the one we wanted which had obviously been overlooked. Because we wanted the size and color of the one we selected we proceeded to try to exchange the ribbon off one of the others. As we were doing this an employee walked down the aisle looking at us with what seemed an air of suspicion. I explained to him what we were doing and asked him to help. He abruptly took the piece from me, exchanged the ribbon, then abruptly handed it back never saying a word or cracking a smile the entire time.



We then took our purchase to the desk where we noticed another employee intently viewing a large security TV with many views of the store. We figured he targeted us as up to no good and sent another guy after us. The person who rang the purchase was also unfriendly.



I am a dealer in another antique mall and I know theft is a huge problem. Monitoring is warranted and expected but it should be done more discretely. Customers should always feel like welcome guests, not stalked like potential criminals. We have walkers in our store who cruise the aisles and take customer purchases to the desk but we hire people with friendly faces and good interpersonal skills so that our customers feel welcome.



This targeting will not happen to me again because I will never set foot in this store again.
