Abraxas I is a 250-plus-bed residential facility that serves delinquent and dependent males who are between the ages of 14 and 18. The facility provides short- and long-term treatment options. Abraxas I is accredited by The Joint Commission. It caters to the needs of drug sellers and sex offenders who need substance abuse treatment, prevention and education. The facility offers opportunities for people to participate in therapeutically structured activities, including individual and group consultation, aggression replacement training and clinical studies. Abraxas I also operates a school that provides educational services and vocational programs. It is a part of Cornell Companies, which manages more than 70 facilities and serves local, state and federal agencies.
