Formerly known as Birmingham Slag Company, Vulcan Materials Company is located in Birmingham, Ala. Founded in 1909, the company is a producer of construction aggregates, construction materials and cement. It offers products and services including asphalt paving materials, ready-mix concrete, railroad ballast and agricultural, chemical and industrial materials, asphalt paving materials, ready-mix concrete and railroad ballast. In addition, the company produces aggregates, primarily crushed stone, sand and gravel. Vulcan Materials Company has acquired Florida Rock Industries Inc.
