General Info
Resurrection Parish at 2600 Lexington Avenue, OH 44904 LexingtonUS - Learn more About Us Learn more About Us Resurrection Parish began as a "Mission Church of St. Peter's" in 1969. Fr. Robert Weithman was the first priest assigned to the Lexington church. The temporary place of Sunday worship was the auditorium of Lexington Junior High, and weekday masses were held in private homes. Groundbreaking ceremonies were held on June 9, 1970 on land donated by Ruby Campbell. 600 people attended the first Mass in the building which was held at 8: 00 pm, December 24, 1970. The Stations of the Cross were labors of love fashioned by parishioners. Each hooked station measures 40" X 50", each with a wooden cross at the corner made by Joe Behr, our first deacon, and each bears the name of the woman who hooked it. Fr. Weithman lead the parish until July 1981 when Fr. Lawrence Scharf became the new pastor. During his time, the Parish Hall was built with classrooms on the lower floor to provide more space for education and fellowship. The Hall was dedicated in February, 1988. Fr. Scharf was transferred in 1993 and Fr. Stanley Szybka became the pastor of Resurrection. He served Resurrection for 12 years until Fr. Nelson Beaver became pastor in 2005.
