Tchefuncte Middle School is an educational institution that is governed by the St. Tammany Parish Public School System, which operates various elementary, middle and high schools. The school serves more than 800 students in grades four through six. It provides English as a Second Language, accelerated reader and speech therapy programs. The school also conducts Drug Abuse Resistance Education classes. Tchefuncte Middle School operates a student government and ecology, chess and yearbook clubs. Its range of extracurricular activities includes band, chorus, physical education and drama. The school organizes several educational fairs and field trips. It also conducts fundraising activities to support organizations, such as the American Heart Association. The school publishes a yearly magazine that contains poems, illustrations and short stories written by students.
