I rented an apartment from them for 2 years. When we did the initial walk through, there was part of the linoleum in the kitchen that was torn up. They told me they would have one of their guys fix it. I called a few times in the first 6 months to no avail. I used some adhesive to glue it down myself. Upon moving out, I was 7 months pregnant and took two days to CLEAN the entire apartment. I wiped the blinds off (which were FILTHY when I moved in), cleaned the stove, the fridge, floors, walls, cabinets inside & out, scrubbed the entire bathroom, filled the pinholes in the walls, dusted the lights, even cleaned the heater vents on the floor. We did a walk-through before I left and the manager pointed at the floor where the linoleum was ripped and said, "What about that?" I told him it was there when I moved in and he saw it on the initial walk-through sheet. Then he said, "It looks bigger." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Does it matter? It was ripped when I moved in! After a few weeks I received a letter stating I was not going to get my deposit back because of how filthy I had left the apartment. They apparantely have a cleaning lady go in after and she spent hours cleaning the tub in the bathroom because of stains. Well so did I and they didn't come off because it was stained from decades of previous use! They also stated that they had to dust the tops of the cupboards for hours because they were so filthy. I called them and told them my apartment did not have tops to the cupboards! I spoke with other neighbors in that building and all of them were robbed of their deposit over lies this company told. I called the OWNER of the building and she was a sweet old woman who told me they had not notified her of any extra charges to my apartment for cleaning. She kindly wrote me a check for my FULL deposit. This company is run by a bunch of lying, greedy, mean THIEVES! DO NOT TRUST THEM OR DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!
(...continued from below) broke off, snow blows into the house through both doors in the front and back and they repeatedly claim to lose our payments only to find them a few days to a couple weeks later and the checks when mailed do not go to their building so they call asking for late fees and have the checks sitting elsewhere. There's so much more. I don't know if I could fit anymore on here. The maintenence men are super sweethearts but the owners and the lady at the desk talk to you with the worst attitude like it's our fault the house isn't being maintained. I can say that the actual home owners are at fault also but that RJR NEEDS to hold them to a better standard or there may be some major issues for them later.
I also have leaks that are not fixed, a spider problem that could be entered in a horror movie, HUGE chunks of paint falling from the walls, outlets that spark when you touch the covers (I'm running out of options to block them from baby with furniture), hornets that swarm the house due to the tree that is dangerously close to the power lines and pushing up cables because it is a main source of food when the sap forms on it, gnats that show up in small swarms from the basement which was locked up and looks like a crime scene ('just leave it, we know it wasn't you who trashed/killed someone in there...'), steps that they keep temporarily fixing and I've broken my toes twice on and once bruised my foot so bad my mom had to take time off work just to get the baby for me because I couldn't stand up (even the workers who fixed it said it was never going to stay and it was being done wrong), I cut myself on a nail sticking out of the carpet where they nailed new carpet over old and the head
I rented from this company. They never fix anything!!! They are slumlords. I told them for over six months that when the people above me took a shower it would leak down into my bathroom and they never did anything about it until the ceiling finally caved in. Thank god it happened when I was at work and none of my children were home. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!!!! They wouldn't give me deposit back because they said it was my fault that the ceilling fell. I reported it weekly for six months.
