Cheryl asked us what we wante...

Cheryl asked us what we wanted to have done, and neither of us were too sure of the style so we both asked to see her style book. Her supposed "style book" she talked about on the phone was a pile of tore up black hair magazines...Great!

After we both had looked through the mags, I told her that I wanted a faux hawk, with braids just at the side, and my sister wanted to have the curls in her natural hair defined. She said of course, I can definitely do that!

Now, the price she quoted me over the phone was 30 for each to have a wash and style. When she started washing my hair first she told me the price was now 50.00, and my sister's 65 because it was going to take too long.

When she was done washing my hair she put in conditioner, and then called my sister over to wash and prep her. When that was done, she went over to the lady who was already there upon our arrival...so yes, she was doing three heads at once! My conditioner stayed on for over an hour, and my sisters for nearly two!

On to the hair styles.... She kept saying very derogatory things about my hair, but especially my sisters because she's natural. She told me that my ends were breaking and that "My hair isn't as straight as I think"...she also told my sister that "I don't know what you want me to do with this...when you said you had curly hair, I thought you meant ringlet curls". If you are a hair stylist, who KNOWS black hair (supposedly) than you know there are all different types of curly hair...and all different kinds of textures as well. She obviously didn't know a damn thing. However, If you DO want to point out negative things constantly, shouldn't you at least as a stylist be telling me how to fix these things?

When she finally got round to my hair, instead of doing the faux hawk as asked, it was some wierd water-fountain hair-do that was braided up the back and around the sides very close together. The top was left out and it looked ridiculous. I kept trying to tell her that the braids were too close together and that a faux hawk isn't braided up the back... but... she kept saying she "knew what she was doing". At that point, I wanted to leave!

Once the braiding was done, Cheryl said I should have it straightend (the hair that was left out) but I told her no, because then it would be too flat..she said that it looked ugly in it's natural state (which was blown dry.. I do have a relaxer and it WAS straight just with a little texture to it...the way I like it!)..riiight.

On to my sisters hair... Cheryl had no idea how to get her curls more defined so she changed her style, to a 70's side do. What Cheryl did was take nasty cheap black gel, and slick her hair to the side in a bun (using my sister's own hair elastic), and the hair that was left out in the bun, she used the cheap black gel to define the curls. Her hair looked disgusting, It was sticky and gross! All she kept saying was "I thought you said your hair was curly?" Again..her hair IS curly just not ringlet curls!

To say that we were both pissed off...(and we were there for well over 3 hours), is putting it lightly.

When we finally went to pay, she changed the price on us AGAIN. She only charged my sister 20 because (and I quote again).... " I didn't really do anything with...that hair" and she charged me $60!! yeah, $60 dollars for something I didn't ask for! All she did was braid my hair, that took about 30 minutes! We were there for so long because she was doing so many heads at once!

This establishment is ridiculous, unprofessional, WAY overpriced, and I don't see how she is in business. She doesn't know a damn thing about black hair, let alone hair period...that was VERY clear. STAY AWAY from this place! There are far better out there I'm sure. It was my first time at a salon and now I'm scared for life!
