I purchased a laptop for my son last week. The young man assisting us called over another gentleman who proceeded to genuinely TALK to my son about his needs in a laptop, and then helped him select a 16" HP laptop. He assured me the unit was tested and had a fresh install of Windows. From my time setting things up for his school, I see no signs of anyone owning this laptop before my son.



The one worry I had was that they didn't offer any kind of warranty, but that he'd give us a few days if there were any problems. The girl at the counter rang us up and then the gentleman from before came out of the back with a laptop bag, asked to see my receipt., and then wrote "30 day exchange warranty" on our receipt, smiled, and thanked us.



I hadn't really considered pawn shops before that day, but I'm glad we did. Manassas Pawn has our business from now on.

I have some expensive jewelry and gold I want to pawn (about $50,000 worth) but I wanted to bring a small item or two in first to see how good or bad or in the middle the shop was. I didn't care what price I got on either item...I was looking for a solid reputable partner for my jewelry and gold.

So I went there on a Saturday with a quality but older netbook computer and a mid-range acoustic guitar. Scott walks up and we shake hands. On my computer, he calls over his "computer guy" who treated me like an animal and hardly let me get a word in. He didn't understand the difference between a solid state hard drive and a regular one. This item goes for $85-100 on ebay and Craigslist. I said all I want is 60, and the "computer guy" could only criticize it for being ancient. It still is faster than most desktop computers. Him being a jerk took the computer off the table. By that point I already made my mind up on the shop. Scott got busy while I was talking to the "computer guy" so there I stood at the counter, with Scott talking jewelry with another customer. after a few minutes Scott called his "guitar guy" over, who was the same as the computer guy. From the first second he was just unpleasant and vicious in his conversation. He showed me a bump on the guitar that I hadn't seen. I just said these are $400 new, what would you pay for it? he said they don't buy cracked guitars. their entire wall of guitars was spotted with guitars that had cracks (REAL cracks) of much lower quality.

Any business is allowed to buy and sell at prices they are comfortable with. They are allowed to refuse to buy items. I know that. I'm fine with that. But when they treat like you are intruding on them by patronizing their business,that's bad business.

Scott, if you knew computers I knew you would have at least treated me right. Get rid of that jerk. Mid-to-late 30s, brownish parted hair, white. He cost you a good $10,000 today.

I called the store an hour earlier and they told me that they would buy my tv. I get there an hour later with my tv and they claimed that they already have too many tvs. They made me miss my shuttle and have to wait an hour and a half for another one to come. If only they would have specified I wouldn't have wasted my time and money. Better yet, maybe they should have said no because an jour later they claimed they weren't buying tvs at all. It's a bad business- please don't waste your time going here. Go some place else!

I shop here all the time. They have the biggest jewelry selection of them all and the staff is friendly. I sold them some jewelry too, and they offered me 50% more money that the other shops. I bought my som a guitar here and they even showed him how to tune it.All in all a great place to do business...don't let the bars on the window keep you from going in.
