- Suzie’s Tip: “It’s very important to get your cat accustomed early to grooming if it’s of a long haired breed.”
- Cats are very sensitive to sound, touch and texture so here at the Purr’n Pooch we go to great lengths to make sure your cat is comfortable when being groomed. Here are some tips for grooming your cat at home that, with patience and time, are as easy as 1-2-3:
- Create a tranquil area to bathe your cat, free of loud sound and activity. The sound of running water is very soothing, which is why Dick Palazzo designed and installed a 22-foot indoor waterfall and rock wall for our feline guests to enjoy in Purr’n Pooch’s custom-designed cattery.
- Cats need to firmly grip a surface with their paws and claws to feel secure when bathing so make sure to place your cat on a towelcarpet or yoga mat. Tubs and stainless steel surfaces are slippery and create a sense of insecurity for cats causing them to tense up during bathing.
- In order to create a peaceful environment to bathe your catPurr’n Pooch recommends giving him/her a sponge bath by using a feline-friendly shampoo. Massage the shampoo into his/her coat and then gently towel dry the fur. Make sure to hold and rub your cat through the process to ensure a relaxing experience.
- Looking to pamper your best friend? If you enjoy a massage, wait until you see how much your pooch will, too! Our dog massages are performed by a certified therapist in a tranquil spa room. The benefits of dog massage include:
- Decrease stress and anxiety.
- Contribute to a healthy coat and skin.
- Ease muscle tension and soreness.
- Increase circulation and relieve muscle spasms.
- A dog massage is the perfect way to pamper your favorite pooch.
