I was promised my cat back when I had to go into the hospital for a very short time & you’s adopted my cat out to someone else who also had the same name as myself while I was in there. Talk about Cruel!!!

I am a volunteer at this shelter and fully understand the shelter's policies. I was upset when I read the other two reviews because I know that there is misinformation within each one. Finders always get first dibs on a dog if their name is on the paperwork. Age limitations are seldom set in stone, and the adoption rests upon the interaction between the child and dog. There are no holds and dogs are adopted by the first person in the door, if all of the above limitations are met. This is a very good county shelter, better than most.

A friend of mine brought in a lost dog, called almost every day indicating she wanted the dog and was told the day she could come pick him up only to find out he had been given to someone else. Heartbroken and totally unnecessary! Cruel! Great way to handle it. Definitely puts people off shelter adoptions.

They change their rules all the time. The put age restrictions on the animals and then let the animal be adopted to people who has/have child/ren UNDER that age restriction AFTER NOT ALLOWING potential adopters even SEE the animal. They had a FULL shelter and then poof in 1 day their shelter was EMPTY??? Makes you think....TWO of the volunteers are great but the other volunteers are NOT, there are County Employees (because it is COUNTY RUN) there who are very helpful and then there are most who are NOT. I personally WILL NOT be going back to that shelter to adopt another animal. I will go elsewhere.
