Like everyone, I've had a few bad experiences with "up-charge and up-sell" oriented service companies, so when my A/C quit in the middle of the night I went full bore on internet research so I'd know what to expect before placing calls. Future Air was my closest Carrier certified dealer. Luckily, Future Air's dispatch worked me into a canceled appointment slot and offered to send a man right over. Within 45 minutes a technician named Jason arrived, went to work, and found a faulty blower motor. This checked with what I'd read, but I also thought that the $$$ control board might be faulty as well. Fortunately that wasn't the case, but with a less scrupulous company it could easily have been "true." Easy up-charge not taken. Nice. I got a knowledgeable diagnosis on the problem, truly fair prices on parts and labor according to my previous Googling, and beyond that I got some solid advice regarding duct balancing and other issues just for hanging around and annoying my technician.
