South Mountain Martial Arts is one of New Jersey's premiere Martial Arts schools. Whether you're interested in self-defense, physical fitness, self discipline, or just plain fun. South Mountain Martial Arts has something for you. We offer classes in Judo, Jujitsu, Jodo (stick fighting), Sambo, Fencing, and Japanese Swordsmanship to students for 10 years of age to 60 or older in our Madison, NJ studio. Our instructors have a combined total of over 75 years of experience, and have trained and competed extensively around the world. Private lesions for all classes are by appointment only. Martial arts provide a level of rounded physical fitness that you cannot achieve by going to the gym alone. Flexibility, coordination, timing and endurance are some of the many benefits. By training with a partner of your choice, you can enjoy a competitive experience that is right for you. Most exercise plans fail because they are boring. Since the martial arts have so many different techniques, and opponents come in so many shapes, sizes, and skill levels, each practice sessions is different from the next. A surprising number of martial artists have been practicing 20 years or more. This alone should illustrate that there is something unique and compelling about this activity.
