In the late 19th century, the Prospect Tavern housed a coal company, part of the bustling railroad industry located just yards away. Today the 1880's Tudor building comfortably seats 50 patrons in the dining room, while the 60-foot bar and outdoor patio make the tavern the preferred place for a casual dinner or to enjoy the perfect pint.The Prospect Tavern offers classic American comfort food like our thinly sliced prime rib sandwich with au jus sauce or our slowly-braised home-style pot roast. Our superior-cut Prime Rib has distinct marbling and is served and seasoned to perfection. Available only on the weekends, this excellent Prime Rib includes a salad, vegetable, and any-style potato.The Prospect Tavern is situated in the central business district of Madison N.J., steps away from the train station, movie theater and great local shopping, making it the perfect place to enjoy a delectable meal before a movie, or to have a relaxing drink on the outdoor patio. Prospect Tavern is an AMAZING BAR! If you havent tried it yet, you need to get over there and experience an amazing night. You will leave there very happy and it's a guaranteed good time. The people are great, the service is wonderful and the customers are so friendly. The bar drinks and reasonably priced and the food is delicious :) ENJOY!!!

I went there 1 time with girlfriends to try to find a new place in Madison to have drinks. Bartender was rude and the owner sat at the end of the bar with a nasty look on her face the entire time. If you were not a regular it took a really long time to get served. Seemed like if you werent 18-24 and a Drew student; you were too old to be there. Never will I go back there again!

Nicely renovated pub atmosphere. Menu is comfort food heaven. Great burgers. Have not tried the bar yet, but it looks like it would be a good place for happy hour and munchies.
