So I'm woken up at 7:15 AM to the sound of machinery. I try to go back to sleep but I keep hearing it running along with the sound of yelling in Spanish and the occasional loud whistle.

I get dressed and peek outside to see a Turf Terminator truck parked nearby. And a few hundred feet away are the workers with a large pile of mulch near them preparing to work.

So let's break it down, Turf Terminators:

At 7:15 AM on a Thursday some people ARE ASLEEP. So hearing your workers scream or whistle is rude and f-ing annoying. I don't care if it's legal for them to start work at 7 AM - they don't need to be screaming across the way to have a conversation with the worker near the truck - it's 7:15 AM - SHUT THE F-CK UP! PS. Maybe you dicks should change your name to SLEEP TERMINATORS instead.....

Regarding the "free" drought tolerant landscape from Turf Terminators - I waited a few weeks before I got an email back from them after applying and from that point on things moved pretty quickly. I still like the idea of having a drought tolerant lawn but I should have researched more. The mulch I got from turf terminators was disgusting. I requested red. They showed up with a truck full of brown, which when dry looks like dusty dirt. When the truck pulled up I thought it was dirt. They brought the wrong color and the foreman guilted me into using it. My bad. I should have insisted they give me what I ordered. But the guys were working so hard and it was "free" so I said OK. The problem is I think the mulch is ugly and mold (or some kind of bacteria) is popping up in several spots all over the front yard and back. This is really gross. First it is white, then it turned dark red and flies were it. So nasty. I was expecting the land cover to be WOOD CHIPS. This stuff has wood chips but it is not like the kind from home Depot. It smelled like fertilizer for days and has all kinds of stringy dirty things in it as well. And as I said, patches of creamy colored mold are growing sporadically through out the front and back yard. In addition to the mulch which is gross and not what I asked for, I think there is some thing wrong with the sprinker system. I turned it off because the plants are doing good (more about that later) the other day I heard water in the pipes. I went outside to check. The system was off but I could hear water in the pipes. I'm no plumber obviously but I know what water sounds like. Something is going on there and I suspect (though I can't be certain) it is turf terminator's low cost sprinkler system. I say that mostly because it doesn't look sturdy. The pipes are installed sort of crooked and it looks very flimsy. Last issue I have is the choice of plants and the layout. Since I am not a landscape designer I trusted turf terminators to do it. I saw so many awesome lawns online that they had on their site and assumed our house would look as nice. NOT. They used only 4 kinds of plants for our entire yard front and back. Only 1 plant didn't make it so that is pretty good. But there isn't much variety. They asked me if I wanted to have a say in the design when we first signed up and I said no. My bad.

I highly recommend having a say in the landscape design, requesting a complete list of the plants they will be using, negotiating for the right level of variety for your house, demanding high quality wood chips and not recycled yard waste (or whatever it was I got) get the cell phone number of the foreman for future service questions, especially for the sprinkler system, and shutting it down if at any point something doesn't look right. Remember, you are going to be stuck with this lawn for a long time. And they are not responding to my email. They have not gotten back to me about these issues which is why I am leaving this review on Yelp. I plan to return to this post with photos of the mold and the sprinkler system. I'll also return with an update if and when I hear back from them.
