Laurel Elementary School, governed by the Los Angeles Unified School District, serves students in pre-kindergarten through grades six. The school offers the English Language Learners program. Its school site council is responsible for making decisions. The school operates the Friends of Laurel team, which is a voluntary group comprised of parents and community members. Additionally, Laurel Elementary School offers a variety of extracurricular activities, including book fairs, parent conferences, family nights and reading Olympics. The Los Angeles Unified School District operates various several elementary, middle, high, adult and occupation schools. The district coordinates a dropout prevention and recovery program that supports students who are unable to further their academic career.
