- Founded in 1990, Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center is a youth and after-school program center providing safe and nurturing environment where boys and girls participate in academic enrichment programs and recreational activities. Located in Los Angeles, Calif., the center houses a computer laboratory and an Ella Fitzgerald library and offers numerous programs pertaining to college academics, tutoring, homework assistance, performing arts center and street soldiers. Its College Track program empowers students and parents to take charge of college planning while its Street Soldiers program is a sixteen-week violence prevention, academic preparation and peer education program. Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center's computer laboratory provides daily instruction in software programs, Internet and e-mail use, typing techniques and homework assistance.
