- Incorporated in 1901, the Lorain Public Library System (LPLS) serves the metropolitan community in Ohio. It operates libraries in Lorain, South Lorain, Avon, Columbia Station, North Ridgeville and Sheffield Lake. The system s libraries provide membership services and library cards. Its libraries offer board, picture, reference, and fiction and nonfiction books for children. The system s libraries also provide CDs, DVDs, videos and audio cassettes. The Lorain Public Library System s libraries offer Project LITE, which is an adult literacy program. Its libraries provide books by mail and outreach services. The system s libraries feature books related to literature, biography, educational research, science and health. The Lorain Public Library System serves several school districts, including Lorain City Schools, Clearview Schools, Firelands Schools, Avon Schools, Columbia Schools, North Ridgeville Schools and Sheffield/Sheffield Lake Schools.
