Reviews
WSD is a very unique martial arts school. Everything you learn is based around practical, real self defense. There is no kata to learn. The classes are fun and it has a very relaxed, family-oriented atmosphere.
I put two daughters through the children's classes and both continued on into adult material as they got older because they enjoyed it so much. They say they feel like it's their "other family." I'm glad we could provide that for them, but as a mom I'm even more pleased that I feel confident they have received the best possible training to defend themselves in this changing world.
I've also gone through their black belt program and it's changed my life in many positive ways. Yes, I admit I liked learning some of the flashy "karate" type stuff in upper belts (especially some judo), but the real benefit was in the day-to-day material like ground fighting or the interesting and challenging scenario training. Their women's program is fantastic, and the educational background they bring to martial arts is outstanding. These are the people that train the WEAVE sexual assault response teams. I also like that it's member-driven, meaning that they love to hear input from students and parents.
