Established in 1923, the Longwood Fire Department conducts a variety of rescue operations. The department is responsible for protecting the lives and properties of the city s residents. It is a full-service department that employs more than 35 staff members. The Longwood Fire Department covers an area of over five square miles. In addition, the department responds to nearly 4,000 fire and emergency medical calls. It reviews construction plans and enforces code compliance through safety inspections. The Longwood Fire Department maintains a fleet of engines, trucks and command vehicles. The department offers community education through fire station tours. It is a part of the government of the City of Longwood in Florida.
