My wife and I recently booked passage through Long Beach Sailing on Tiama, an 80 foot schooner we had seen and admired in Alamitos Bay. We had never been sailing on a boat that large before. What a thrill! We boarded Tiama at commercial Berth One not knowing what to expect. Other passengers began arriving as the crew directed us to a spot on deck where we could see all that went on during the sail. Once we were all on board and before we got under way, Captain Ed gave us a brief but thorough safety lecture, made us feel comfortable and we were on our way. The engine purred as we left the dock and motored to a spot where the crew raised the sails. As the sails filled and Tiama gained speed I felt like this was really more than just an afternoon sail. It was an adventure. Wow! My wife and I would do it again. Maybe a sunset cruise next time! Captain Ed and the crew were professional. The boat was amazing. As we returned to Berth One we felt we had really been somewhere.
