General Info

ICON's roots date back to 1977, when two Utah State University business majors, Scott Watterson and Gary Stevenson, began a small import company. Their company, Weslo, manufactured mini-trampolines and created ProForm Fitness as an additional brand name. Weslo expanded and began including a diverse selection of home fitness products. Part of the original company was sold in 1985, then again in 1988 to Weider Health & Fitness. Through each sale, Watterson remained ICON's chief executive officer and chairman and Stevenson remained the chief operating officer and president. In 1994, Watterson, Stevenson and other executives teamed with Bain Capital of Boston to form ICON Health & Fitness. With over 4,200 employees and 11 locations around the globe, ICON Health & Fitness is far and away the largest manufacturer and marketer of home fitness equipment worldwide. As one of the first U.S. fitness companies to venture into the international arena, ICON has facilities located in China, Europe, Canada, and the United States. No other company provides a more complete line of fitness solutions.ICON has consistently pioneered the fitness industry and has demonstrated its power as an industry leader by delivering state-of-the-art equipment for over 25 years. Each year ICON produces 3.9 million units of quality fitness equipment.

We are a handicapped couple that purchased a ProForm735 and the 4 year ext. warr. for mobility at home. Our machine has failed after a year and 2 months and UTS has been out to repair it three times, stating that it's not repairable. It's been more than two months without a working machine, and countless phone calls. Our bodies are atrophying as the days pass and no solution. We are begging for assistance and getting nowhere.

Hands down the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I had the bad idea to purchase a treadmill from NordicTrack. Talking to some other customers and the abysmal reputation of the company made me immediately backtrack and cancel the order. Even though the goods had not been sent, they treated my cancellation as a 'return', which means that days later they sent the treadmill even though the order was canceled, and billed me for the shipping back, plus a restocking fee. I only had my money back after 1 month and a half from the cancellation of the order and numerous calls to their "customer service". Note that each call means you have to wait for 50min to 1 hour on hold, waiting for someone to answer. I will make sure to go out of my way to talk people out of buying any products from Icon Health and Fitness in the future.

I'm in the process of working with customer service at Icon Health & Fitness Inc on an issue. Jesse Younker has been my rep and has been excellent in trying to find solutions.

I bought a AC adapter for $24.21 and had to return it because I found out that I could not use the Equipment I bought at Wal-Mart for physical reasons. The actual item only cost around $9.00 but they charged me $14.00 for shipping a item which only weight around 6 oz. In order to return it they will charge me 10% restocking fee for the $9.00 and I automatically loose the $14.00 shipping which makes it impractical to ship back. WHY WAS MY SHIPPING FEE SO MUCH? BIG RIB OFF.

The worst customer service department I have ever tried to contact. I needed to replace a broken belt on my exercise bike so I ordered one through Icon. When I received the belt there were no instructions included so I tried to contact customer service. After waiting on hold on their customer service phone number for one and a half hours I finally hung up. Called back the next day when again I was put on hold but this time left my call back number. Received a call late that night, explained my problem to a rep who assured me that I would be emailed specific instructions on how to replace the belt since there is no information in the owners manual. It was never sent. I emailed the customer service dept. with my request and was told twice to refer to the owners manual even though I explained there is no info in it. I finally called the home office in Utah and asked for a supervisor who told me I have to rent/buy a crank puller to remove the pedal. Customer "care" is a joke.

Worst Customer Service I have ever had to deal with.

My treadmill ran for 20 minutes before it went into a steep incline and will not come back down. I have called their customer service number repeatedly for a week. I can never get though to a person. I have tied calling at difference times of the day from 7 AM till 8 PM. I have left my phone number more times than I can count and I have yet to receive a call back. I have emailed them several times and never received a reply. Their customer service line is not even open the hours stated on the User's Manual. I wish I had seen the previous review before I had spent $1000 on their treadmill. If I had know they had such extremely poor customer service I would purchased else where. I would even have spent more money to get a product that a company would back up with customer service. I would not tell any one to purchase a product from Icon, in fact I would strongly recommend that you do not.

Best of...trend mills just HOPE you never need to replace ANYTHING.

Customer service is the worst I have ever seen - they have sent me replacement belt for a trend mill twice and both not the right size. Either training is poor or customer service is not something Icon cares about. 5 minutes for customer service to even pick up a call with no way around it, and on-line help is minimal, although they did try on-line at least there was response. Over 3 hour of phone time 2 wrong shipments and no resolution after 6 weeks.
