- The DeKalb County Police Department provides a range of police protection services to the residents of DeKalb County in Georgia. It offers information about most wanted and missing individuals. The department provides the Volunteers In Patrol (V.I.P.) program, which is designed to reduce criminal incidents and allows volunteers to report suspicious and criminal activities to interactive community policing officers. The DeKalb County Police Department collaborates with the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency (D.E.M.A.) for emergency management and coordination through prevention, protection and mitigation against natural and man-made disasters. It operates through various divisions, including crime investigation, executive command staff, internal affairs, code enforcement, central records and homeland security. The department additionally operates a special operations division that includes traffic enforcement, aerial support, and Special Weapons And Tactics (S.W.A.T.) units.
