Established in 1955, Lefler Middle School is a learning center that serves more than 570 students in grades six through eight. Its academic curriculum includes reading, writing, math, science, English, social studies, art, physical education, music, computer applications, world language and language arts. The school additionally offers classes in business, drama, journalism and industrial technology. It provides English Language Learners and special education programs for gifted and talented students. The school maintains a library media center that stocks books, periodicals and newspapers, as well as provides links to search engines. It also operates a guidance counseling department that offers information on scholarship opportunities, graduation requirements and career planning. The school is a part of Lincoln Public Schools, which is a school district that serves over 34,000 students through nearly 60 elementary, middle and high schools.
