      Starting as a spin-off from the University of Nebraska, J.A. Woollam has grown to become one of the worldwide leaders in spectroscopic ellipsometry. The company has received more than 40 patents for its technology. Engineers and scientists involved in the advancement of ellipsometry make up more than half of J.A. Woollam s staff. Each system the company sells is assembled by hand and uses custom-machined aluminum and optics and electronics. Dr. John A. Woollam founded J.A. Woollam in 1987.
