      The Harnett County Department of Public Utilities is a regional water and wastewater utility that provides service to more than 55,000 people in Harnett County, N.C. It maintains a water treatment plant that supplies water to the municipalities of Lillington, Angier, Coats and the village of Buies Creek in North Carolina. The Harnett County Department of Public Utilities also supplies water to the residents of Cumberland, Lee, Wake, Johnston and Moore regions. Its plant utilizes Cape Fear River as the source for the system s drinking water. The department s water system consists of various rural water and sewer districts. It maintains over 1,500 miles of water mains. The Harnett County Department of Public Utilities is located in Lillington, N.C.
