The Gas Company serves more than 100,000 utility and nonutility consumers statewide. It provides engineering and technical support services to developers, government representatives, architects, engineers, contractors and homeowners. Located in Lihue, Hawaii, the company produces synthetic natural gas on its more than 16million-cubic-foot manufacturing plant. Its gas is used for a variety of purposes, including cooking, water heating, drying and lighting. It is also used in propane-powered cars and trucks, gas lights and cogeneration systems. The Gas Company employs more than 300 people and offers various energy savings and rebate programs. Additionally, it operates a customer service department that offers special assistance in more than 140 different languages.
