Established in 1912, Kentucky Utilities is a regulated electric company that serves customers in more than 80 counties throughout Kentucky and Virginia. Its service area covers over 6,600 square miles. The company operates more than five generation facilities, over 600 electric substations, and nearly 18,000 miles of electric transmission and distribution lines to serve its electric customers. Kentucky Utilities has a power generation capacity of nearly 4,500 megawatt. It also operates Old Dominion Power Company, which offers electric rating services. Kentucky Utilities is a wholly owned subsidiary of E.ON U.S., which is a part of E.ON, one of the largest investor-owned energy services providers in the world. E.ON U.S. is a diversified energy services company that also owns and operates Louisville Gas and Electric Company.
