Christian Community Action was founded in 1973 by a group of Christians and provides assistance with financial and health care issues to low-income families. It is a nonprofit organization that provides housing and support services to approximately 12,000 poor and homeless individuals each year. The organization s education and vocational training program offers budgeting and tutoring classes and job training and placement services to over 1,500 people. Christian Community Action also specializes in medication assistance and health services. Its Christmas Toy Program provides toys to nearly 2,900 children on Christmas. With a presence in Lewisville, Texas, the organization accepts clothing, books, furniture, appliances, household items, cars, boats, toys and school supplies through its collection centers. Christian Community Action s back to school program offers shoes, school supplies and clothes to more than 1,400 children.
