Dr. Mark Humphrey happened to be on call at SMMC the night of Mar 17th, 1997, when I had a bad car accident on I-35 at 67th Street.



My Thunderbird was equipped with the passive, over-the-door shoulder restraints, which automatically slide into place, and this saved my life. But I had not taken the time to pull the manual lap belt across the pelvic area, thus slid forward upon impact, breaking my right lower leg into fragments, on the lower dashboard of the car.



Dr Humphrey discussed the options with me, using extreme grace and patience, as I was in shock. It was determined to use a titanium "pin" in the leg, rather than a toe-to-groin cast for many weeks.



He does excellent work. The leg healed quickly, and has held up well for 11 years now. Dr. Humphrey is my hero. And his skills are enhanced by the fact that he listens to the patient, and is kind and pleasant in dealing with his patients.
