Underwood Elementary School, established in 1991, serves more than 620 students in kindergarten through grade six. The school is governed by the Lee s Summit School District, which operates various elementary, middle and high schools. It provides special, gifted and computer education programs. The school s staff includes guidance counselors, paraprofessionals, reading specialists, and occupational, physical and speech therapists. Underwood Elementary School offers a range of extracurricular activities, such as band, strings, music, art and physical education classes. The school also organizes several fundraising events to support community activities. It operates a parent-teacher association and conducts character education sessions. Located in Lee's Summit, Mo., Underwood Elementary School additionally provides meals and publishes a monthly newsletter.
