New to the area, we opened accounts at Mascoma and then applied for a mortgage on a home. This mortgage was $40,000 less than what we had initially contacted them about (and for which they had given us a letter saying they believed we would qualify). A week after being given initial verbal affirmation of the loan going through, they said "No. Sorry." Needless to say, our accounts will be moved elsewhere, and the details of the bank and the loan officer will be shared. If I could give less than one star, I would do so.

My loan officer and the loan processors were wonderful. All questions were answered quickly and completely. I could not be happier with the service!

I enjoyed my experience with Mascoma Savings Bank. The employees were friendly and answered all my questions. They are very into customer service and making sure that that I got what I needed without pushing to much information on me.
Was involved with this bank regarding a home loan. They did not return calls, missed deadlines, altered appraisals with no rationale or explanation, and ultimately wore out both the buyer and the seller. Ultimately their unprofessionalism and backwoods manner unraveled the deal. Unbelievable both in the breadth and depth of incompetence and that this business stays solvent while operating like this.
