Founded in 1982, Petro's Chili & Chips, now known as Petro s, is a small fast-food chain that specializes in Petro, which is a mixture of corn chips, chili, cheese, green onions, tomatoes and sour cream. It maintains several locations in the eastern Tennessee. The concept was invented at the 1982 World's Fair in Knoxville, Tenn. The name, which is derived from petroleum, is a reminder of the energy theme of said World's Fair. Petro s menu includes Lite Petro, Pasta Petro and The Garden Petro. It offers fresh garden, Southwest, grilled chicken, Caesar and mixed green salads. It also offers catering services for a range of events.
