Founded in 1884, McKendree Elementary School provides learning opportunities to more than 1,000 students in kindergarten through grade five. It offers gifted education, early intervention and nutrition education programs. The school s academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as English, mathematics, social studies, art, music, physical education and science. McKendree Elementary School also offers various after- and before-school activities, such as tutoring and chorus, as well as organizes science fairs. It additionally provides various technology resources, such as computers, video microscope, AlphaSmart keyboards, digital cameras, Smart boards and video editing equipment. The school has a media center that stocks a variety of reading and reference materials, as well as provides an online list of accelerated reader quizzes.
