The Broward County Sheriff's Office is a law enforcement agency that protects residents lives, their property and individual rights and maintains peace and order. It undertakes various criminal cases and works with other state, local and federal agencies for ensuring the safety of exchange of information and law enforcement officers and the public. The Broward County Sheriff's Office also offers services for the victims of domestic violence, including emergency restraining orders and court-ordered transfer of physical custody of children. In addition, the office offers a range of online services and organizes several community outreach programs. The Broward County Sheriff's Office has the Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team, which specializes in bomb disposal and hostage and barricaded gunman situations.
