New York State Public Employees Federation is one of the largest local employee unions in the United States. It serves employees in various private sector organization and local government agencies, such as the Albany County Probation Department, Albany Housing Authority and NYS Canal Corporation. The federation promotes the welfare of its members by representing them on several and conditions of employment. It works to improve wages, hours and conditions by organizing members, negotiating with management and maintaining strong legislative programs. The federation offers various insurance, travel, health and dental benefit programs. It also provides workplace violence prevention, occupational health and safety programs. New York State Public Employees Federation additionally offers college scholarship programs for students.
