- The Painters Place is a custom frame shop that sets itself apart by understanding and executing a higher level of design and craft. Our master-craftsmen and designers have a commitment to understanding the history and purpose of design in picture framing. When this is combined with our skill in woodworking and hand-finishing our own frames, we produce a truly unique finished product that stands above the competition. When we use the term "custom framing," we do not mean simply taking a frame molding made by someone else and cutting it to a custom size. At our production facility in Point Richmond, we work with raw hardwood and shape it into the profile that perfectly complements the artwork, then custom finish to the precise color specifications. Our finishers can use water gilding methods and an extensive variety of gold leaf to create what will truly be a one-of-a-kind presentation for your artwork. In addition to custom framing, we also offer frame restoration. When utilized in tandem with our master craftsmen and water gilding practices, we can completely revitalize any frame back to its original condition.
