The Berry O. Waddy Funeral Home is an independent family owned establishment committed to providing quality and compassionate funeral related services and products to families in the Northern Neck and counties throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as in Maryland and the District of Columbia. We are committed to the communities we serve and to maintaining the reputation for excellence we have earned. Founded in 1967 by its current owner and manager, Berry O. Waddy, we are dedicated to providing caring support and our extensive knowledge and experience to families before, during and after final disposition of their loved ones.. Our Traditional Funeral Service includes a family or public visitation, followed by a funeral or memorial service in the familys church or in our chapel. The service is usually followed by earth burial or entombment in an above ground mausoleum. For earth burials, a cemetery may require that at a minimum, a grave liner be used to encase the casket. The required liners are constructed of concrete and are designed to hold the weight of the earth, maintaining cemetery property. A sealed vault may also be used. A vault is constructed of thicker concrete and is manufactured with an inner liner that not only restrict the entrance of graveside elements (water and earth), but increases the strength of the vault. Should cremation be desired, following positive identification and federal and state tracking procedures, a medical certification of the death, and authorization from the next of kin, we will schedule an appointment with a crematory and return the remains to the next of kin.
