I strive to treat each patient as I would want myself or my family members to be treated. Every patient is deserving of the best and most advanced care possible without exception. Every patient has the right to understand their condition and treatment plans so that they are able to make informed and educated decisions. What would you like people to know about you as a physician? I have a special passion and love for my specialty. I love to learn new techniques and incorporate them into my practice. I also respect patients’ experiences and love to learn from them. There is no end to learning and improving yourself as a physician and surgeon. Why did you decide to become a physician? I have always been interested in studying science and scientific discovery and how that can affect a positive change in our lives. It was only natural for me to pursue a field in which science is applied directly to making a difference in others’ lives. Medicine is one of the most rewarding fields. As a physician, I am able to apply scientific principles to patient care and then see improvements in a patient’s life. What do you enjoy most about working with patients? I most enjoy the ability to care for patients in their most vulnerable time by guiding them through the difficulties that may come with their condition. I am most appreciative of the trust they place in me as I help them in their journey toward improved health. When did you know you wanted to be a doctor? I remember making the decision to become a doctor as a six-year-old. My father was a doctor, and my mother was a science teacher. I grew up with parents who appreciated the importance of education and learning. I was inspired by both their careers and their love of educating and caring for people. My parents continue to inspire everything I do to this day. How does your work improve lives? Working in colorectal surgery has been very rewarding, as we not only improve lives by restoring health, but we also work to restore and maintain the function of the gastrointestinal tract. What else would you like to share with our readers? I enjoy being an educator very much. I have been a part of residency training for my entire career. I have trained many surgical residents and have found teaching very exciting and fulfilling. The teaching process has enriched me as a surgeon and allowed me to learn from both my colleagues and residents alike. What are some interesting facts about you? I love the study of history and art, and enjoy learning about world cultures and traditions. I also enjoy growing roses and various other plants. What else would you like to share with our readers?
