It has been my personal observation that honeybees only care about a certain location if there is plenty of food nearby. When honeybees swarm, their main goal is to be closer to a food source as certain plants bloom at different times of the year. When you notice you now have bees flying around your home, it might be that they found a good food source in your area. When a food source is too far to travel, the bees all decide together to relocate to a suitable place (as described to the left) closer to that source. So, usually if you see 1 swarm of bees, then the chances are there are more than 1 in your neighborhood. If the old hive left behind starves out, then it remains a suitable place for some later time as the food source blooms again the following year.
