The Lafayette Association For Retarded Citizens is a nonprofit organization that serves individuals with developmental disabilities. Operational for more than 50 years, the organization occupies more than 34 acres of space. It offers educational, vocational training, respite care and nutritional food services. The Lafayette Association For Retarded Citizens provides clinical, in-home care and behavioral health services. The organization operates Acadian Village, which hosts fundraisers, wedding ceremonies and social gatherings to raise funds for the members of the parent organization. It is a member of several organizations, including the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities, Autism Society of America and Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council.
