General Info
In 1971, using start-up funds provided by Lilly Endowment, Inc and contributions from the Lafayette District of the United Methodist Church, the Lafayette Roman Catholic Diocese, the United Presbyterian Church, and concerned local businesses and private citizens, the Home With Hope, Inc. opened its doors for men in recovery at 1001 Ferry Street. Today, this facility serves 28 men working towards recovery from addictions to drugs and alcohol. In 1997, an apartment complex was purchased at 920 N. 11th Street which provides additional space for 44 men and women transitioning from the larger facilities. Each two-bedroom apartment is shared by four clients. In November 2007, Home With Hope opened a 32-bed residential recovery house for women at 1119 Ferry Street. This facility provides additional services that are unique to women in early recovery. The building was a gift from NCHS of Lafayette, IN with other generous assistance from NCHS, the Community Foundation, West Lafayette CDBG and many other community partners. The Home With Hope, a non-profit organization with 501 (c), is a safe refuge for addicts and alcoholics throughout the state of Indiana who are ready and willing to change their lives for the better. The atmosphere of recovery in our program is developed through strict structure and caring, and by maintaining a zero-tolerance environment. We assist in teaching and modeling acceptable behaviors to help with successful recovery and community re-integration. Attending 12-step meetings, seriously working the steps with a sponsor, and applying the 12-step principles to one's everyday living becomes the cornerstone for helping to break the cycle of addiction for our clients. Home With Hope has become a well-established beacon of the Lafayette community by helping addicts overcome their struggles with addition. As a private non-profit organization, Home with Hope is self supporting through client fees, but also relies heavily on tax-exempt donations to continue its important recovery services and to provide a comfortable and safe living environment for its residents.
